SENTILA TSUKJEM YANGER

Sentila T. Yanger is a social entrepreneur, culture conservationist, curator, Naga textile specialist and handloom entrepreneur based out of Dimapur, Nagaland. She is widely acknowledged for her work with women development and empowerment alongside her contributory role and commitment towards the conservation and promotion of Naga heritage and culture

She has notably mobilized women craft artisans and weaver groups in training, product development, marketing support, and formation into SHGs to engage collectively with strength in numbers. Her pursuit in reviving and documenting the lost indigo traditions of the Nagas has drawn attention to the fading status of the languishing craft, with the first written document on the Naga natural dye practices credited to her.

Her work in the promotion, conservation and preservation of heritage and culture is wide ranging- from research and documentation projects, talks and presentations in national and international forums on issues advocating and confronting the heritage and culture of the Northeast region of India. Curatorial projects have promoted the works of Naga artists, textile traditions, languishing craft practices and staged several festivals on the intangible heritage of North East India. She is a Member- Advisory Body on Intangible Cultural Heritage & Diverse Cultural Traditions of India (ABICHU), UNESCO Cell, Ministry of Culture, GOI.
